Defense Minister Gallant: Building Bridges in Brussels and Beyond

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has embarked on an important mission to Europe that will not only enhance Israel’s international relations but will also reiterate its unwavering commitment to peace and security.

Gallant, on his diplomatic tour, first touched down in Brussels, where he is scheduled to meet his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Gallant and Austin have established a cordial working relationship, and this meeting will only further cement the friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.

“Before my departure, I spoke about our shared commitment with the U.S. to prevent Iran from acquiring military nuclear capabilities,” said Gallant. He added that comprehensive discussions with Israel’s Prime Minister and senior defense officials were held before the trip to ensure Israel’s qualitative edge in the Middle East region.

However, Gallant’s mission doesn’t stop there. He will also connect with Europe’s defense leaders, including Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement. These discussions will further reiterate Israel’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful and productive relationship with its neighboring countries.

Adding a touch of communal connection to his trip, Gallant is slated to meet with the leaders of the Jewish community in Belgium. These interactions at the Great Synagogue of Brussels will further consolidate the bond between the Jewish Diaspora and Israel, emphasizing the strong sense of unity within our global community.

Gallant’s European voyage will then take him to the “City of Lights.” In Paris, he will attend the illustrious “Le Bourget” Airshow. There, he will meet his counterparts from France, Italy, Hungary, and Romania. This will provide an invaluable opportunity to showcase Israel’s high-tech prowess in the field of aviation.

He will also inaugurate the Israeli national pavilion at the airshow, signifying the strength of Israel’s technological innovation and its global recognition. His remarks at the inauguration ceremony, led by the International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) in the Israel Ministry of Defense, will undoubtedly underscore Israel’s contributions to the world of defense and technology.

These engagements reflect the State of Israel’s proactive role in maintaining strong diplomatic relations and its unyielding commitment to international peace and security. Minister Gallant’s journey exemplifies the values of our nation – diplomacy, innovation, security, and a deep sense of community. These are the very pillars upon which the State of Israel stands – a beacon of resilience and progress in the heart of the Middle East.
