Miraculous Recovery for 7-Year-Old Bedouin Girl Injured in Iranian Strike
Amina Alhasoni's incredible journey from critical injury to a hopeful future showcases the strength and spirit of Israel's medical community.
Amina Alhasoni, the 7-year-old girl critically wounded by Iran’s April 13 missile attack on Israel, has been released from Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva after a remarkable recovery.
Alhasoni suffered a severe head wound when shrapnel from a ballistic missile struck her family’s home in a Bedouin town near the Negev city of Arad. After more than three months of intensive care and multiple neurosurgeries, she is finally on the path to recovery.
Rushed to Soroka Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, a dedicated multidisciplinary team worked tirelessly to stabilize her. Dr. Miki Gideon, head of pediatric neurosurgery, described her injury as "severe, complex and devastating." However, through expert care and numerous surgical procedures, Amina's condition improved significantly.
“To see Amina today—fully conscious, communicating, smiling, and ready for the next step in her rehabilitation—fills our hearts with hope and strengthens our hands,” Dr. Gideon expressed.
Dr. Tzachi Lazar, head of the pediatric intensive care unit, shared similar sentiments: “When Amina was admitted to the unit that Saturday night, it was hard to believe that the small and fragile girl survived her severe injury.” He added, “All of us in the pediatric intensive care unit wish her and her family members good health and success in the future.”
The attack on April 13 saw Iran launch over 300 missiles and UAVs at Israel. Thanks to the effective defense systems and coordination with allies such as the United States, Israel intercepted the vast majority of these threats. Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, IDF Spokesman, noted the significant achievement of intercepting approximately 99% of the threats, emphasizing that no suicide drones penetrated Israeli airspace.
Amina Alhasoni was the sole casualty of the attack, making her recovery even more poignant and inspiring. Her journey is a testament to the resilience and determination of Israel’s medical professionals and their unwavering commitment to saving lives.
As we celebrate Amina’s recovery, we are reminded of the dedication and skill that define Israel’s healthcare system. Let us continue to support and share the incredible stories that highlight the spirit and strength of Israel and its people.
