African Lawmakers Vow to Strengthen Diplomatic Ties with Israel

Lawmakers affirm Jerusalem as Israel's capital, counter AU criticism

A total of 40 lawmakers from 20 African countries have signed the “Addis Ababa Declaration of Africa-Israel Cooperation and Partnership”, affirming Jerusalem as the undivided and eternal capital of Israel and pledging to strengthen ties with the Jewish state. The document counters condemnation from the African Union and South Africa, which has accused Israel of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The declaration recognizes the Jewish people’s historical and cultural ties to the land of Israel, including Judea, Samaria, and East Jerusalem, areas often contested in international debates.

The participating lawmakers represented countries such as Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Uganda, among others. The conference categorized antizionism as a form of antisemitism and condemned violent groups like Hamas, Iran, and Hezbollah. Additionally, the lawmakers praised the Abraham Accords and encouraged further peace initiatives with Israel.

This declaration marks a significant step in reinforcing diplomatic relationships between African nations and Israel, promoting peace and cooperation in the region.
