President Milei of Argentina Condemns UN for Anti-Israel Bias
Milei denounces the UN’s stance on Israel while pledging unwavering support for the Jewish state.
In a powerful address at the United Nations General Assembly, Argentine President Javier Milei sharply criticized the international body for its persistent bias against Israel. Speaking at the 79th session in New York, Milei, a staunch supporter of the Jewish state, condemned the UN for consistently voting against Israel, “the only democracy in the Middle East, which protects liberal democracy,” he declared.
The libertarian leader further rebuked the UN for its inability to tackle global terrorism. “In this same house that purports to defend human rights, we have also included bloody dictatorships in the Human Rights Council, including Cuba and Venezuela, without reproach,” Milei remarked, highlighting what he sees as hypocrisy within the international organization.
Following his speech, Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon expressed his gratitude for Milei’s bold defense of Israel. “President Milei, you are a true friend of the State of Israel,” Danon tweeted. “In this hall, where we were slandered all day, you showed courage and supported Israel! Thank you!”
Milei’s pro-Israel stance is nothing new. The Argentine president has been a vocal ally of Israel, promising to move Argentina’s embassy to Jerusalem and designating Hamas as an “international terrorist organization” following the group's deadly attack on October 7. His administration’s firm position on this issue further cements Argentina’s evolving relationship with Israel.
Milei's first international visit as president was to Israel in February, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, solidifying his support for the country.
