Bennett Warns Foreign Control of Gaza Would Threaten Israeli Security
Former prime minister slams idea of multinational oversight, says Israel must never surrender its defense autonomy.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett issued a stark warning on Thursday against any plan to hand over security control in Gaza to foreign or multinational forces, calling such a move a direct threat to Israel’s security and sovereignty.
“Transferring security control in Gaza to multinational forces, some of them hostile like Turkey, endangers Israel’s security,” Bennett stated. He specifically pointed to the potential involvement of Qatar and Turkey nations he says have actively supported Hamas and likened the concept to “Oslo on steroids,” referencing the failed promises of past peace accords.
Bennett emphasized that Israel must not repeat the mistakes of history. Citing the horrific October 7 Hamas massacre, he warned that Israel cannot afford to “fall asleep and hope for the best.” The former premier argued that Israel’s security depends on the IDF’s ability to operate freely in Gaza to neutralize threats before they grow a strategy often referred to as “mowing the grass.”
He also raised concerns about reports suggesting external oversight of IDF operations. “How did we reach a situation where our soldiers need to request approval from the American headquarters in Kiryat Gat?” he asked pointedly. “The State of Israel is not a protectorate.”
Bennett’s comments reflect growing unease among Israeli leaders and the public about potential concessions being negotiated behind closed doors. He called for full transparency, demanding that the government reveal “all commitments and concessions being crafted behind the backs of Israel’s citizens.”
“What is the open or hidden motive behind a decision to give up our security and our freedom of action?” he asked. “The citizens of Israel deserve full transparency regarding their security.”
With Israel’s future security arrangements in Gaza still undecided and pressure mounting from international players, Bennett’s statement serves as a firm reminder: the State of Israel must never relinquish control over its own defense. Anything less could pave the way for future threats far worse than those already endured.
