Boeing Signs Major Deal to Supply Israel With Thousands of Smart Bombs
Targeted strikes at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport dismantled a key supply network used to move weapons and money across the Middle East.

Israel continues strengthening its long-term defense capabilities through strategic partnerships with leading global defense manufacturers. In a significant development, Boeing has signed a new $289 million agreement to supply Israel with thousands of advanced precision-guided munitions.
According to reports, the contract will provide up to 5,000 air-launched Small Diameter Bombs, a sophisticated guided weapon designed for precision strikes against distant targets.
The Small Diameter Bomb is engineered to be launched by fighter jets at targets more than 40 miles away. Its compact design allows aircraft to carry multiple weapons while maintaining high levels of accuracy and operational flexibility.
Although the agreement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, the contract is not connected to ongoing military operations. Deliveries are not expected to begin for approximately 36 months, highlighting the long-term nature of Israel’s defense planning.
The deal reflects the close strategic relationship between Israel and the United States, which has for decades been Israel’s most important defense partner.
Boeing has played a central role in that partnership. Last year the company secured a major $8.6 billion contract from the Pentagon to manufacture and deliver advanced F-15 fighter jets for Israel as part of a government-to-government military sale.
The United States remains by far the largest supplier of military equipment to Israel, supporting the country’s ability to maintain its qualitative military edge in a complex and rapidly changing region.
Recent reports also indicate that the U.S. government has accelerated several arms sales to Israel as part of broader defense cooperation.
According to officials, the administration of President Donald Trump recently used emergency authority to expedite the transfer of more than 20,000 bombs valued at approximately $650 million.
In addition, Israel is expected to acquire roughly $298 million in critical munitions through direct commercial sales agreements with American defense companies.
Earlier this year, the U.S. State Department also approved more than $6.5 billion in potential military sales to Israel across three separate agreements. These packages include advanced military equipment such as Boeing’s Apache attack helicopters.
Together, these agreements highlight the depth of the security relationship between the two countries and the ongoing effort to ensure Israel’s ability to defend itself against evolving threats.
Precision-guided weapons like the Small Diameter Bomb are considered vital tools for modern air forces. Their ability to strike targets accurately from long distances helps reduce risk to pilots while allowing militaries to neutralize threats with greater effectiveness.
For Israel, maintaining access to cutting-edge military technology remains a key component of national security strategy.
The latest Boeing contract underscores the continued cooperation between the United States and Israel in strengthening regional stability and ensuring that Israel remains prepared to confront emerging challenges.
