Central Park Sees Large Gathering in Support of Israeli Hostages
Emotional Speeches Highlight Urgent Call to Bring Captives Home.

Hundreds of supporters gathered in New York City’s Central Park on Sunday to rally for the safe return of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza. The powerful event brought together families of the captives, former hostages, and political leaders, all united in a message of hope and urgency.
Among the key speakers were Ronen and Orna Neutra, whose son Omer Neutra, a Long Island native and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier, was killed on October 7th. His body has been held by Hamas for more than 16 months. “We lost our hope to see Omer alive,” the Neutras said, adding, “But Omer deserves a dignified burial, and we deserve a place to mourn. Bring them home now.”
Ilana Gritzewsky, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz alongside her boyfriend, Matan Zangauker, shared her harrowing experience. Gritzewsky, who was held in Gaza for 55 days, has tirelessly advocated for Zangauker’s release since gaining her own freedom.
“I cannot stop thinking about each of the kidnapped. Cannot stop thinking about my Matan, and until we bring them all home, nothing will stop,” she said. “My body may have returned…the deepest part with me is still there.”
Her words highlighted the deep trauma endured by hostages and their families. “The world does not understand the magnitude of this trauma, with the kidnapped clinging to our emotional torment,” Gritzewsky added.
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), a staunchly pro-Israel Democrat, addressed the crowd, acknowledging the profound impact of the Bibas family tragedy and the delayed return of Shiri Bibas’s body. “These past weeks of this, especially these past few days, have been unbearable,” Torres said.
“I will always stand up here, not only in hoping but fighting for a world where the hostages are brought home and where Oct. 7 can never be repeated,” he affirmed, drawing applause from the audience.
The rally served as a powerful reminder of the ongoing plight of Israeli hostages and the resilience of their families. As the international community continues to demand accountability and justice, events like this rally amplify the voices of those who will not rest until every hostage is brought home.
