Thousands of Chabad Emissaries Gather in NYC for Global Conference

Annual event highlights Jewish pride and unity amid global challenges.

Thousands of Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis from around the world convened in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, this past weekend for the annual International Conference of Shluchim (Emissaries). The gathering, which culminated in a group photograph on Sunday, served as a powerful display of Jewish pride, resilience, and unity.

“This image is not only a massive display of Jewish pride,” Chabad stated, “but also sends a message of resilience, confidence, and strength to Jewish communities around the globe.”

The conference takes on particular significance this year, marked by the absence of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, the Chabad emissary in the United Arab Emirates, who was tragically murdered. His absence underscored the challenges faced by emissaries who serve in communities worldwide, often in the face of adversity.

“After a year of tremendous challenges, this conference unites the leaders who stand on the frontlines of the global Jewish community,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, director of the conference and son of the late Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. “From the war zones of Ukraine and Israel to rising antisemitism worldwide, shluchim bring unwavering support and hope to every individual, ensuring no one is left behind.”

The conference provides emissaries with an opportunity to recharge their mission of bringing Jewish education, support, and inspiration to their communities. Workshops, seminars, and shared experiences offer practical tools and spiritual renewal for the year ahead.

This year’s gathering follows a period of intense global upheaval, including the war in Ukraine, the ongoing conflict in Israel, and rising antisemitism in many parts of the world. Despite these challenges, Chabad emissaries remain steadfast in their mission to uplift Jewish communities.

“This weekend renews their strength and mission to serve with even greater impact,” Kotlarsky said.

The conference is a testament to the enduring dedication of Chabad’s global network, whose efforts reach millions of Jews worldwide. Their resilience, bolstered by unity and purpose, ensures that no corner of the Jewish world is left untouched by their care and commitment.
