Israeli Cybersecurity Startup Cyera Hits $9 Billion Valuation After New Funding

AI-driven security demand fuels massive growth as Cyera becomes a cornerstone for global data protection.

Cyera, an Israeli-founded cybersecurity company, has surged to a $9 billion valuation after closing a $400 million funding round led by U.S. investment powerhouse Blackstone. The announcement marks a meteoric rise for the Tel Aviv-born startup, which has now tripled its valuation in just one year highlighting Israel’s growing leadership in the AI and cybersecurity sectors.

Founded in 2021 by Yotam Segev and Tamar Bar-Ilan, both alumni of the IDF’s elite Unit 8200 cyber division, Cyera’s rapid ascent reflects not just savvy leadership, but a global demand for cutting-edge solutions to secure the world’s most sensitive data. Drawing on their military experience safeguarding cloud infrastructure, Segev and Bar-Ilan built Cyera to answer a question every enterprise now faces: how to harness the power of AI without compromising security.

The company’s platform provides real-time insight into how and where data is being stored and accessed, giving organizations the ability to protect it in the age of rapid AI adoption. “AI is reshaping the foundations of how every organization operates,” Segev said. “Companies want to move fast, but they know they can’t afford to do so without the right safeguards in place.”

This latest round brings Cyera’s total funding to more than $1.7 billion, with backing from global investment giants including Accel, Sequoia, Sapphire, Lightspeed, Coatue, Cyberstarts, and Georgian. The startup’s client base now includes roughly 20 percent of Fortune 500 companies, cutting across industries from finance and healthcare to retail and telecommunications.

Cyera has also scaled its global operations at a blistering pace, tripling its workforce in the last year alone. The company now employs 1,100 people across 15 countries with over 400 team members based in Israel, reflecting its enduring commitment to local talent and innovation.

Blackstone’s Chief Security Officer, Adam Fletcher, praised Cyera’s value in a rapidly changing threat landscape, pointing out that data is becoming “one of the fastest-growing attack surfaces” as businesses integrate AI into their operations. Companies, he noted, are seeking unified platforms to protect themselves and Cyera is proving to be a key player in that shift.

Cyera’s story is another powerful example of Israeli ingenuity on the global stage. In a world increasingly shaped by data and artificial intelligence, Israeli startups like Cyera are not just keeping up they’re leading the charge, turning visionary ideas into transformative technologies that safeguard industries worldwide.
