Freed Hostage Daniella Gilboa Releases Debut Single

“Where Everything Ends” marks first step in musical journey shaped by captivity, healing and hope.

Less than a year after returning from Hamas captivity, Daniella Gilboa is reclaiming her voice through music.

The former hostage released her debut single, “Where Everything Ends” (Eifo Shehakol Nigmar), the first song from an upcoming album that reflects her journey from darkness to light.

Gilboa was abducted on October 7, 2023, from the Nahal Oz military base along with fellow border observers Naama Levy, Karina Ariev, Liri Albag, and Agam Berger. After 477 days in Gaza, she was freed in January 2025 alongside Levy, Ariev, and Albag.

Now, she is channeling her experiences into art.

Co-written with Gil Vain and Uri Sachiv, the song is deeply personal. It traces her emotional path from confusion and despair in captivity to the fragile hope of returning home.

“My biggest dream, long before October 7, was to release my own songs and be involved in music day to day,” Gilboa shared in a statement. “And then the event that shook my life arrived. Beyond the depth it added to my writing, it also made me understand that I only live once.”

Music has been part of her life since childhood. A pianist and songwriter from a young age, Gilboa says that over the past year she has focused intensely on healing, reflection, and understanding what she endured. Writing became part of that process.

“It was so important to me that the words would tell about this period of upheaval I went through from my point of view,” she explained from the thoughts that haunted her in captivity to the moment she stepped back into sunlight.

The lyrics capture that emotional arc:

“Where everything ends/They say it will be happier/And I’m still waiting…

You fight not to remember,/And you swear not to break…”

Yet the song closes with a message of faith and renewal:

“Shutters open /Again we feel/The sun above me.

Don’t worry all the angels see;/There is someone there who is watching over you.”

For Gilboa, releasing this single is more than a professional milestone. It is a declaration.

“It’s important to me that you know I’m here to stay,” she said. “I’m working, continuing to create, and I have many more songs.”

In a year marked by profound loss and national trauma, Daniella Gilboa’s debut reminds Israel and the world that even after the darkest chapters, new beginnings are possible.
