Eden Golan Reflects on Representing Israel at Eurovision “Such an Honor”

Israeli Singer Opens Up About Backlash, Music’s Unifying Power, and Her New Album.

Israeli pop star Eden Golan recently spoke on ABC's News Live about her experience representing Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest, calling it "such an honor." In her interview with journalist Linsey Davis, Golan shared that performing on the world stage was a lifelong dream. “I had one goal and one goal only,” she said. “It was to perform on that stage, give the best performance, represent us with pride, and not pay attention to what’s going on around.”

As an Israeli artist, Golan faced some backlash throughout the competition due to her nationality. She acknowledged the challenges, noting, “There was a lot going on around my participation in Eurovision this year. We had obstacles to overcome, but we did everything in our power to make it happen and show that we’re here to stay.” Despite the tensions, Golan remained focused on her mission to unite people through music. “Music has its own language,” she explained. “A person from any country can listen to a song and connect on their own level, and that’s what I hoped to achieve at Eurovision.”

Born in Israel, Golan moved to Russia at age six, where she started performing professionally, only returning to Israel in 2022. Reflecting on her experiences abroad, she recently released her single, Older, in September, ahead of her debut album. “I wrote the song from my heart about how I’ve been through different situations,” she said. “Growing up in the show business and living in a foreign country were tricky. There were situations out of my control that made me grow older than I should be.”

Golan’s upcoming album promises to showcase her multifaceted journey. “I have a lot in me that I want to show,” she teased. “There’s a rollercoaster of emotions, happiness, and stories that I’ll share through my music.”

Fans can expect an intimate look at Golan’s life and experiences in what she hopes will be a deeply relatable and unifying collection of songs.
