Eli Sharabi to Speak at UN Security Council Regarding Hamas Hostage Crisis

Israeli survivor of Hamas captivity to share personal account as Israel demands global action.

The United Nations Security Council will convene a special session on Friday to address the ongoing hostage crisis, focusing on the brutal captivity of Israeli civilians by Hamas. Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, confirmed that the session will open with powerful testimony from Eli Sharabi, a survivor of Hamas captivity.

Sharabi, kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, endured 491 days of captivity under inhumane conditions. Upon his release, he was met with the devastating news that his wife Leanne and daughters Noya and Yahel were murdered by Hamas on the same day of his abduction. Sharabi was freed in February as part of a hostage-ceasefire agreement alongside fellow hostages Ohad Ben Ami and Or Levy.

Medical evaluations conducted at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and Sheba Medical Center revealed the severe physical toll endured by the hostages. All three were reported to be in serious condition, suffering from extreme weight loss and malnourishment clear evidence of Hamas's systematic abuse. Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned their treatment, calling it a “crime against humanity.”

Israel’s ambassador Danny Danon emphasized the significance of Sharabi’s testimony: “While the UN continues its attacks on Israel, Eli will remind the world who we are fighting for. We will not stop until Hamas is defeated and every hostage returns home.”

Sharabi’s account will serve as a stark reminder of the terror and cruelty inflicted by Hamas a U.S.-designated terrorist organization on innocent civilians. His testimony underscores Israel's unwavering determination to secure the release of all remaining hostages and ensure the defeat of Hamas.
