Evangelical Leader from US Donates 28 Armored Ambulances in Tribute to Murdered Hostages
Franklin Graham’s charity strengthens emergency services in memory of those lost to Hamas attacks.
In a powerful display of solidarity, Franklin Graham, son of the renowned evangelist Billy Graham, has committed to donating 28 armored ambulances to Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) in memory of hostages murdered by Hamas, including US citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Graham, who founded the Christian humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse, unveiled two of these ambulances at a ceremony in Avshalom, a community near the Gaza border.
The ceremony, held in memory of those whose lives were brutally cut short, honored Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was killed by Hamas, along with Roi Idan and Smadar Mor-Idan, who were murdered on October 7th while their young daughter Avigail was taken hostage. “We are here to dedicate the two armored ambulances that have just arrived, as well as a new ambulance center near the Gaza border, where there has not been one before,” Graham stated during the event. He also emphasized the urgent need for such life-saving equipment in the region. “The need is so great that we have committed to providing 28 more armored ambulances. The MDA team are heroes, saving lives daily, and standing with them is an honor.”
This is not the first time Graham’s charity has made a difference for Israel. Earlier this year, Samaritan’s Purse donated 14 ambulances to MDA, replenishing supplies for Israel’s first responders. Additionally, 1,000 trauma kits equipped with essential medical supplies have been donated to help communities along the Gaza border.
Graham also laid the cornerstone for MDA’s first ambulance station in Avshalom and another station in Shlomi, further supporting emergency services in areas facing constant threat. The two new stations are expected to enhance the ability of MDA to respond to critical situations, providing much-needed support to the Israeli communities near Gaza.
Eli Bin, Director General of MDA, expressed deep gratitude to Graham and Samaritan’s Purse. “The generosity of Reverend Franklin Graham and his organization Samaritan’s Purse knows no bounds,” Bin said. “As he dedicated eight additional armored ambulances and two new MDA stations, he told me he would donate another 28, taking the total to 42 life-saving vehicles. The people of Israel are indebted to this great man and organization.”
Franklin Graham’s commitment to Israel, and his ongoing support for its people, stands as a powerful reminder of the close ties between American Christian communities and the Jewish state. His organization’s efforts are not only saving lives but also bringing much-needed hope and resilience to the people of Israel in their time of need.
