F-15 jets remain key to Israel's military dominance
‘Baz’ and ‘Ra’am’ showcase unmatched capabilities in defense and long-range operations.
The F-15 jets, known as the ‘Baz’ (F-15) and ‘Ra’am’ (F-15I), continue to play a critical role in Israel's military operations, demonstrating their unrivaled capabilities in the Middle East. These versatile aircraft have been integral to the Israeli Air Force (IAF) for decades, performing in every major conflict and executing deep-strike missions with precision.
The ‘Baz,’ introduced during the First Lebanon War, boasts a maximum speed of Mach 2.5 and an impressive wingspan of 13 meters. Its 19-meter length allows it to carry significant payloads, making it a cornerstone of Israel’s air superiority. Most recently, the Baz participated in the IAF’s July strike on Yemen’s Hodeidah Port, targeting Houthi infrastructure while evading detection.
The ‘Ra’am,’ a customized variant of the F-15 designed specifically for Israel, adds even greater capabilities. With the ability to travel nearly 4,500 kilometers on a single tank and fly at speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h at low altitudes, the Ra’am has become a go-to aircraft for long-range missions. Notably, it led the operation to eliminate Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.
The Baz and Ra’am excel in striking deep into enemy territory, carrying large payloads to neutralize threats before they reach Israel’s borders. During operations such as “Opera” and “Wooden Leg,” these aircraft showcased their range and firepower, cementing their status as top-of-the-line combat jets in the region.
The IDF’s profile on these jets highlights their enduring importance in Israel’s defense strategy. Their adaptability and advanced technology have kept them at the forefront of aerial warfare, ensuring Israel’s skies remain secure.
As threats evolve, the Baz and Ra’am continue to reinforce Israel’s military dominance. Share this story or subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about Israel’s cutting-edge defense capabilities.
