Fans Threaten Boycott Over Michael Rapaport’s Role on Traitors

Peacock’s fourth season of Traitors has sparked controversy after announcing its cast which includes comedian Ron Funches, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, actress Lisa Rinna, and Jewish actor Michael Rapaport. While many fans welcomed the star‑studded lineup, others are calling for a boycott over Rapaport’s vocal support for Israel.

Some social media users have reacted strongly. One wrote, “Peacock wants to be boycotted so bad by casting Rapaport.” Another commented, “Michael Rapaport is one of the most disgusting reality TV casting choices imaginable.” A third said they would “easily skip” the show, accusing Rapaport of using the platform as “reputational laundering of rabid racists and genocide supporters.”

Rapaport, best known for his role as Gary on Friends, has been a fierce and public advocate for Israel since October 7, 2023. He has consistently called for the release of hostages and faced backlash and lost opportunities as a result of his Zionist position. In a Fox News interview, he confirmed he’s experienced social media threats, protests at comedy shows, and difficulties landing acting jobs, yet he stands firmly by his beliefs.

“I don’t have the slightest bit of regret,” Rapaport said. “Being supportive of Jews, being supportive of Israel, being supportive of our people, was not a choice. It is very natural and organic to me.”

Despite the controversy, his supporters argue that representing diverse viewpoints including those who are unapologetically pro‑Israel adds depth to the show’s dynamic. NBC’s Peacock has not (yet) responded to demands to remove him from the cast.

This episode highlights a broader trend in entertainment, where political views increasingly influence casting reactions and audience loyalty. As Traitors prepares to premiere, fans will be watching closely not just for drama but also for which values the show chooses to elevate.
