Fauda Star Idan Amedi Leaving Show After Gaza War Injury

Actor and IDF reservist steps away from role due to long rehabilitation.

Israeli actor Idan Amedi, known for his role as undercover agent Sagi Tzur in the hit series Fauda, is leaving the show after sustaining a serious injury while fighting in Gaza.

Amedi, 36, informed producers that his long rehabilitation process would prevent him from returning to the series, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. It remains unclear whether his character will be written off or recast.

The actor, who also serves in the IDF reserves, was seriously wounded in an explosion that killed six Israeli soldiers from his Engineering Corps unit. Since his injury, he has shifted his focus toward his music career.

Fauda, which follows an elite Israeli counterterrorism unit, has gained international acclaim for its gripping portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Amedi’s departure marks a significant change for the series as it moves forward with its next season.
