Trump’s Pro-Israel Cabinet Nominations Gain ‘Enthusiastic’ Backing from Democratic Senator

Fetterman praises bipartisan efforts to support Israel’s fight against terrorism.

U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has expressed enthusiastic support for President-elect Donald Trump’s pro-Israel cabinet nominations, signaling a willingness to work across party lines to bolster American policies favoring the Jewish state. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Fetterman commended Israel’s efforts to combat Iran-backed terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah and voiced approval of Trump’s foreign policy appointments.

“In terms of the incoming administration, I like what I see in terms of being very, very strong pro-Israel,” Fetterman stated, emphasizing that his stance will remain consistent regardless of the White House’s occupant. He lauded Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and Lebanon, calling it “very just” and praising its effectiveness in “eliminating and breaking” threats from Hamas and Hezbollah.

Fetterman, who campaigned as a progressive, has emerged as a staunch ally of Israel since Hamas’s October 7 attacks on the Jewish state. He has criticized anti-Israel rhetoric from some members of his party and condemned elite universities for tolerating antisemitism on their campuses.

The Pennsylvania Democrat offered strong praise for Trump’s selection of Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) as the next secretary of state, pledging to “enthusiastically vote yes” for his confirmation. Fetterman expressed openness to engaging with other Trump nominees, emphasizing a desire for dialogue over partisan preconceptions.

Fetterman also took a firm stance against Democratic colleagues pushing to cut U.S. military aid to Israel, calling such efforts counterproductive. Referring to his opposition to recent measures introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to impose an arms embargo on Israel, Fetterman said it “was a pleasure” to vote “a big no” and dismissed the proposals as misaligned with supporting democracy.

“For me, it’s about standing on the side of democracy,” Fetterman stated, defending his consistent support for military assistance to Israel. He criticized calls for a ceasefire, affirming that Israel’s campaign has been critical for regional security and stability.

Fetterman’s bipartisan approach highlights the growing complexities within U.S. political support for Israel. As Israel continues its fight against terrorism, Fetterman’s stance demonstrates that advocacy for the Jewish state remains a powerful unifying force across party lines.
