Netanyahu Welcomes Fiji’s New Embassy in Jerusalem
Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka joins Netanyahu in celebrating Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital.

Fiji officially inaugurated its new embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday, marking a historic moment in Israel’s growing diplomatic ties with the Pacific nation. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, and Israel’s Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
“You recognize a truth that everybody should recognize, but few governments have so far,” Netanyahu said during the event. “That this has been our capital for 3,000 years, since the days of King David. Here, next to the walls of our ancient city, the prophets spoke, the kings of Israel ruled, and some of the greatest insights of human faith and values were inscribed here.”
Turning to Rabuka, Netanyahu added: “Welcome to our house, Mr. Prime Minister, which is your house and the house of the people of Fiji.”
The decision to open the embassy was announced in February 2025, when Minister Sa’ar praised Fiji’s move and thanked Rabuka for his steadfast friendship with Israel. Sa’ar also emphasized Israel’s continued efforts to encourage other countries to recognize Jerusalem as its capital and relocate their embassies there.
For Fiji, the new embassy not only symbolizes strengthened diplomatic ties but also deepens cooperation with Israel on security and development. Earlier this year, Rabuka requested Israeli patrol boats to aid in Fiji’s fight against illegal drug trafficking, with Sa’ar pledging support.
The opening of Fiji’s embassy in Jerusalem adds to the growing number of nations recognizing the city as Israel’s historic and eternal capital. It underscores the shared values and mutual respect between Israel and its allies worldwide.
