Firefighters Rappel Down Building as Superheroes for Disabled Youth Ahead of Purim

Jerusalem rescue team brings smiles to children with special needs in a heartwarming celebration.

In the spirit of Purim, firefighters from the Jerusalem District Fire and Rescue Authority gave disabled youth a celebration to remember dressing as superheroes and rappelling down a building to surprise them.

The event took place at the Feuerstein Institute, an educational center for individuals with disabilities aged 7 to 21. As the children watched in excitement, Batman, Superman, and Spiderman descended from the rooftop, bringing joy and laughter to all.

Jerusalem’s Special Rescue Unit Chief Shai Drori emphasized that the firefighters’ role goes beyond emergencies.

"A firefighter is not measured only in moments of emergency but also in their ability to bring light and joy to people in the community," Drori said.

Seeing the children’s smiles, excitement, and happiness was a deeply meaningful experience for the team, he added.

Purim is a holiday of joy, generosity, and connection, and this special visit embodied that spirit.

"There is no better example of Purim than seeing firefighters create magical moments," Drori said.

As Israel celebrates Purim, these everyday heroes showed that sometimes, the greatest rescue is simply bringing happiness to those who need it most.
