Former Hostage Describes Profound Spiritual Experience in Hamas Tunnels ‘I Felt Miracles’

Sapir Cohen credits faith for helping her survive her time as a hostage.

Former Hamas hostage Sapir Cohen has spoken out about the spiritual transformation she experienced while held captive in the terror tunnels. Cohen, who survived the ordeal through her faith, shared her powerful story with FOX 5 New York, describing the deep sense of peace she found despite the grim circumstances.

“I felt miracles,” Cohen said, recalling the moment when a prayer brought her unexpected serenity. “One of the biggest miracles I felt is that I understood that maybe I’m supposed to be in this place.”

This spiritual revelation shifted her focus away from her own suffering. Instead, Cohen found strength in helping another young female hostage, providing her with comfort and encouragement. “I wanted to help her and make her happy. From the moment I decided to take this responsibility, I felt so powerful,” she added.

Cohen’s account is a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Her story serves as a reminder of how faith and compassion can offer hope, even in the darkest situations.
