United Hatzalah Welcomes Ex-NBA Players to Jerusalem Headquarters

Michael Sweetney and Eddy Curry praise the lifesaving efforts of Israel's emergency medical service.

Former NBA stars Michael Sweetney and Eddy Curry recently visited the United Hatzalah headquarters in Jerusalem, where they were introduced to the organization’s rapid response emergency medical services. The visit, which took place last week, highlighted the remarkable efficiency and dedication of United Hatzalah’s volunteers.

Michael Sweetney, who played for the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls, toured the Dispatch and Command Center. This center is known for its impressive response time, averaging between 90 seconds to three minutes. Sweetney expressed his admiration, stating, "Seeing how everyone works together to save lives and doing so while arriving at the scene so quickly is remarkable. You have my support; keep going, I’m behind you and I’m here for you."

United Hatzalah’s president and founder, Eli Beer, praised Sweetney, calling him "a hero" and noting his influence on inspiring children to pursue sports. Beer also emphasized Sweetney’s commitment to having a positive impact on the world, akin to the organization's mission to save lives regardless of who is in need.

Eddy Curry, who played for the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, also visited the headquarters and met with volunteer responders. Curry was deeply impressed by what he saw, saying, "I came here because I heard about the incredible things you guys are doing for humanity. I’m completely blown away."
