Freed Hostage Reunites with Loved Ones in Kfar Aza
Emily Damari’s Emotional Homecoming Highlights the Ongoing Struggle to Bring Hostages Home.
Emily Damari, a 28-year-old British-Israeli citizen who was abducted during Hamas’s horrific October 7 attack, has returned to her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza the very place where she was taken captive.
Sharing her emotional journey on Instagram, Damari reflected on the significance of stepping back into her home after enduring captivity.
“I’m back… Today I returned to my home, to my apartment, to the oxygen I had and almost ran out. I returned to the place where my whole nightmare began 485 days ago and closed only part of the circle that I had been waiting to close for so long,” she wrote.
But even in her personal homecoming, Damari’s thoughts remained with those still suffering. “Like me, there are 79 other kidnapped people who need to close their circle and are waiting to complete the missing part. We must not stop here. We must bring everyone back, including everyone, home. The living for rehabilitation and the murdered for burial. I will only feel my true victory when they return.”
