Freed Israeli Hostages Met Trump and Thanked Him for Their Release

Former captives told Trump they never expected freedom until his return.

A delegation of eight Israeli hostages, recently freed from Hamas captivity, met with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the Oval Office. The meeting, which was initially recorded by the White House but later deleted, was a powerful moment as the former captives expressed their gratitude and hope for the release of those still in captivity.

“My family and I, myself we believe you’ve been sent by God to release us,” Omer Shem Tov told Trump. “You really helped. You have the power to do it.”

Naama Levy echoed the sentiment, telling Trump, “You were our hope, and now you’re the hope of the rest of the hostages.”

When Trump asked whether they believed they would be freed before his return, the group answered with a resounding “no.” Levy added, “Once you were elected, we heard that you want to do everything to make a deal as soon as possible.”

Trump reassured the delegation, stating, “We’re going to get the rest of them. We’re working on it very hard.”

The delegation included Eli Sharabi, Doron Steinbrecher, Keith Siegel, Aviva Siegel, Levy, Shem Tov, Iair Horn, and Noa Argamani. They reportedly met with other U.S. officials, though details of those meetings were not confirmed by the White House or the National Security Council.

During their visit, the former hostages attended Trump’s speech to Congress and later presented him with a plaque inscribed with the phrase, “Whoever saves one life saves the world entire.” The message, drawn from the Mishnah, highlighted their deep appreciation for the role they believe Trump played in securing their release.

Keith Siegel, speaking on behalf of the group, emphasized the urgency of securing the return of the remaining 59 hostages still held by Hamas. “We came to the White House to express our great appreciation and gratitude to President Trump and his special envoy to the Middle East, Mr. Steve Witkoff,” he said. “They made a deal possible, they got us all home.”

While the meeting was not publicly scheduled, it reinforced the former hostages’ belief in Trump’s commitment to their cause. They left Washington with renewed hope that efforts will continue to bring home the remaining hostages both the living and those who must be returned for a proper burial.
