GHF delivers 6 million meals in Gaza amid false Hamas reports
As aid flows into Gaza, Hamas spreads misinformation to undermine humanitarian efforts.

In a significant stride toward alleviating Gaza's humanitarian crisis, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has successfully distributed nearly six million meals within its first week of operations. This achievement underscores the organization's commitment to providing essential aid amidst challenging conditions.
Operating from its Tel Sultan distribution site, GHF dispatched 21 truckloads of food aid, totaling 18,720 boxes sufficient to provide approximately 1,081,080 meals. This brings the cumulative total to an estimated 5.8 million meals distributed since operations commenced. Interim Executive Director John Acree lauded the rapid deployment, stating, "Our model is functional and effective in delivering life-saving assistance to the people of Gaza under emergency conditions."
GHF plans to expand its operations by opening four additional distribution sites, including one in northern Gaza, to meet the overwhelming demand. This expansion aims to ensure that aid reaches more individuals in need, reinforcing the organization's dedication to humanitarian principles.
However, GHF's efforts have been met with challenges, including misinformation campaigns. On Sunday, reports emerged alleging that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked a food distribution point near Rafah, resulting in civilian casualties. GHF promptly dismissed these claims, releasing security camera footage from the site showing calm civilian activity and no reported incidents. "All aid was distributed today without incident. No injuries or fatalities," the organization stated, attributing the false reports to Hamas propaganda.
The IDF also denied the allegations, with an initial investigation finding no evidence of an attack on civilians at the aid site. According to an IDF source, troops operated overnight approximately one kilometer from the distribution area, outside of operating hours, targeting individuals suspected of approaching their position.
GHF criticized Hamas for spreading misinformation that undermines critical humanitarian efforts. "We are scaling up as quickly as possible, but the reality is stark: for every truck we manage to bring into our network, other humanitarian groups face looting before aid reaches those in need," the organization stated.
The successful distribution of aid by GHF, despite the challenges posed by misinformation and logistical hurdles, highlights the resilience and determination of organizations committed to humanitarian assistance. As GHF continues to expand its operations, the focus remains on delivering aid to those in need, countering false narratives, and upholding the principles of humanitarianism.
