Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Bypasses Hamas, Delivers Aid Directly to Civilians
Despite terror threats and violent attacks, new pilot program provides food to Gazans while avoiding Hamas control.

In a bold step toward humanitarian accountability and innovation, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced the successful completion of a pilot program that delivered over 2,000 food boxes directly to civilians in central Gaza circumventing the Hamas terror group.
The initiative, launched in partnership with local NGO Al-Amal, marks a significant departure from traditional aid delivery models that have long been exploited by Hamas. Under this new system, aid begins with requests from vetted community leaders, who then oversee distribution based on confirmed recipient lists.
“The Gaza Strip is a dynamic, dangerous environment that requires innovative solutions to get food to those who need it most,” said GHF interim executive director John Acree. “Big challenges need new thinking, and I commend our team for continuing to think outside the box.”
The pilot’s success has set the stage for broader implementation. GHF now aims to expand the program to multiple communities with a goal of distributing 20,000 food boxes or 1.2 million meals daily.
But the cost of helping Gaza’s civilians hasn’t come without risk. According to U.S. State Department cables, Hamas has placed formal bounties on both American and Palestinian aid workers affiliated with GHF. The terrorist organization views the foundation's independent distribution model as a threat to its control.
On June 28, GHF confirmed, “We are aware of credible reports that Hamas has placed bounties on both our American security personnel and Palestinian aid workers offering cash rewards to anyone who injures or kills them.”
Two days later, during food distribution efforts in southern Gaza, two American workers were wounded when assailants hurled fragmentation grenades at a GHF site. The aid workers were evacuated and are in stable condition.
Despite the attacks and ongoing threats, GHF has remained steadfast. To date, the foundation has delivered more than 67 million meals to Palestinians in Gaza. Their approach relying on vetted local leaders and strict recipient tracking ensures that aid reaches those most in need, not the coffers of terror operatives.
This mission is part of a broader effort to replace the discredited United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has long faced allegations of enabling Hamas and other terror elements. GHF represents a new model of integrity, transparency, and impact-driven aid.
As violence continues to grip Gaza, GHF’s innovative approach offers a path forward feeding the hungry while denying Hamas the power to exploit humanitarian relief.
