London Protest Leads to Arrest of Greta Thunberg
Prime Minister Albanese extends warm welcome to President Herzog as both leaders condemn rising antisemitic terror.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has once again stirred controversy this time by aligning herself with a terror-designated group. The 22-year-old was arrested Tuesday in London during a protest in support of hunger-striking members of Palestine Action, a radical anti-Israel organization banned by the UK government for its violent tactics.
The demonstration, titled “Prisoners for Palestine,” was held outside the offices of Aspen, an insurance company targeted by activists for its alleged ties to Israel. Thunberg was detained under Section 13 of the UK’s Terrorism Act 2000 for displaying a placard that publicly supported Palestine Action an act prohibited under British anti-terror legislation.
City of London Police confirmed her arrest, stating that she had attended the scene shortly after two other individuals were taken into custody for throwing red paint on the building. “A 22-year-old woman was arrested for displaying an item in this case, a placard in support of a proscribed organisation,” police noted. Thunberg has since been released on bail and is expected to appear in court in March.
Palestine Action, founded in 2020, was formally designated a terrorist group by the British government in July after a string of violent incidents. Among the most severe: a break-in at the Royal Air Force base in Oxfordshire, where members damaged military refueling aircraft with metal bars and spray paint. The group has consistently targeted businesses and facilities linked to Israel, often using destructive and unlawful means.
At Tuesday’s protest, Thunberg was seen holding signs reading “I support the Palestine Action prisoners” and “I oppose genocide” messaging that has sparked outrage among Jewish communities and defenders of Israel. Critics argue that her support for a group known for vandalism, sabotage, and anti-Israel rhetoric is far from the peaceful activism she once championed.
This arrest marks a significant departure from Thunberg’s environmentalist image and raises serious questions about the international normalization of radical anti-Israel activism, even when linked to legally proscribed organizations. Her alignment with such groups risks emboldening hate and further stoking division at a time when Jewish communities worldwide face rising threats.
As antisemitism continues to escalate globally, moments like these underscore the urgent need for moral clarity. There is a stark difference between advocating for justice and supporting organizations that promote hate and violence. For many, Thunberg’s latest actions have crossed that line.
