Ceasefire and Hostage Release Agreement Draft Accepted by Hamas

Negotiations reach critical breakthrough as final details are being discussed.

Hamas has agreed to the terms of a proposed ceasefire deal in Gaza, along with the release of numerous hostages, according to officials involved in the negotiations.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that while Hamas has accepted the draft agreement, Israeli officials indicated that some final details are still being discussed. A copy of the agreement obtained by the AP was authenticated by both an Egyptian and a Hamas official, though all sources spoke anonymously due to the sensitivity of the ongoing talks.

Qatar, a key mediator in the negotiations, described the current situation as the most significant progress made in months. “We have handed over drafts of the ceasefire agreement to both sides, and talks are now ongoing on the final detail,” the Qatari Foreign Ministry stated.

“We have overcome the major differences. This is the closest point we have been to a deal over the past months,” the statement added.

While the agreement represents a major step forward, its success now hinges on the resolution of remaining issues and the willingness of both sides to follow through on their commitments.
