Hamas Commanders Surrender to IDF in Rafah
Israeli forces capture terrorists tied to October 7 massacre as Gaza operation expands and critical intelligence is uncovered.

In a significant breakthrough in the IDF’s campaign against Hamas, Israeli forces have captured several terrorists in Rafah’s Shaboura neighborhood, including senior commanders tied to the October 7 massacre and the holding of Israeli hostages.
Military footage released Tuesday showed the moment of surrender, as elite IDF units took custody of a Hamas platoon commander involved in the October attack and a sniper unit leader. Several knives were discovered in their possession at the time of arrest.
Following the apprehensions, Israel’s Shin Bet security agency obtained critical intelligence during interrogations including the location of a major Hamas terror site in the area. This intelligence is expected to further bolster Israel’s ongoing operations in Rafah and the broader Gaza Strip.
The arrests come as part of a broader IDF strategy to encircle and systematically dismantle Hamas’s remaining strongholds. The 188th Brigade’s combat team has already eliminated dozens of terrorists, located numerous weapons caches, and destroyed terror infrastructure.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that the military operation in Gaza would be intensified. “We decided on intensified action in Gaza,” Netanyahu declared. “That was the IDF chief of staff’s recommendation to move, as he said, toward the defeat of Hamas. He believes this will also help us rescue the hostages. I agree with him.”
In a shift from previous conflicts, Netanyahu emphasized that Israeli forces will remain in areas captured during combat. “There will be movement of the population in order to protect them,” he stated, affirming Israel’s dual commitment to neutralizing threats while minimizing civilian harm.
Israel’s Security Cabinet unanimously approved an expanded military plan on Sunday. The new directive includes “occupying Gaza and holding on to the territory,” and conducting “powerful strikes” on Hamas operatives. Additionally, the cabinet is weighing a proposal to resume humanitarian aid to Gaza via an international fund designed to prevent Hamas from looting the supplies.
The recent surrenders and intelligence breakthroughs mark a turning point in the battle for Rafah and demonstrate the growing momentum of Israeli efforts to dismantle Hamas command structures and bring hostages home.
Israel remains resolute. As terrorists surrender and secrets unravel, each operation brings the nation closer to justice, safety, and eventual peace.
