Katz Warns Hamas Will Pay a ‘Heavier Price’ If Hostages Aren’t Released

Israel signals readiness for deeper operations in Gaza if Hamas stalls release negotiations.

During a high-level tour of the Gaza Division this week, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz approved ongoing military operations in Gaza with a decisive message: Hamas will pay an increasingly steep price unless it agrees to release the hostages it continues to hold.

Accompanied by senior defense officials, including Deputy IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai and Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, Katz made it clear that Israel’s commitment to securing the return of its hostages remains non-negotiable.

“Our main goal is to bring the hostages home,” Katz declared. “If Hamas continues to refuse a deal, it will pay an increasingly heavy price. We will take territory, eliminate terrorist operatives and destroy infrastructure until Hamas is completely defeated.”

This firm stance comes amid internal security deliberations where IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir warned that Hamas’s delay tactics are deliberate. “Hamas is stalling for time this is a strategy, not just a tactic,” Zamir said, underlining the need to apply intensified pressure.

Sources indicate that Israel’s leadership is weighing options for a broader and more extended ground campaign. Such a move could include a full-scale military occupation of Gaza for an extended period, direct control over humanitarian aid, and efforts to dismantle Hamas’s civilian leadership structure.

These plans may involve the creation of protected “humanitarian bubbles” to safeguard noncombatants, while besieging remaining areas under Hamas control. This humanitarian-military hybrid approach aims to limit civilian harm while maintaining relentless pressure on the terror group.

Despite this preparation for escalation, Israeli officials emphasize that they are closely monitoring the progress of ongoing ceasefire talks. No final decisions have been made regarding the next phase of the operation, though the direction is clear: Hamas must act or face intensified consequences.

As Israel defends its citizens and seeks the safe return of those abducted, the world witnesses the unwavering resolve of a nation determined to protect life and uphold justice.
