Hamas Official Reaffirms Pledge to Destroy Israel

In televised remarks, a Hamas leader celebrates violence and vows continued aggression.

In his first public address since endorsing a ceasefire agreement with Israel, senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya reiterated the terrorist organization’s commitment to Israel’s destruction. Speaking from Doha on Wednesday night, al-Hayya claimed that Hamas had outmaneuvered Israel during negotiations, framing the ceasefire deal as a win for the Palestinian “resistance.”

“Today, we prove that the occupation will never defeat our people and their resistance,” al-Hayya declared during an 18-minute televised speech. He described the October 7 massacre, during which Hamas terrorists murdered 1,200 Israelis, as a “miraculous” operation that would “remain a source of pride” for Palestinians for generations.

Al-Hayya also vowed that Hamas would expel Israel from "our land and from Al Quds [Jerusalem] at the earliest time possible,” while dismissing any notion of compromise or weakness on the part of the group. He eulogized high-ranking Hamas leaders killed in the conflict and extended gratitude to the nations and organizations he credited with supporting the terror campaign. Among those he praised were Iran, Turkey, Russia, China, and various other countries, as well as anti-Israel activists worldwide.

The address coincided with preparations for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. Under the deal, 33 hostages some of whom are believed to have been killed will be released by Hamas in exchange for 110 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. The agreement also stipulates a reduction in the IDF's presence along the Philadelphi Corridor bordering Gaza and Egypt, beginning 42 days after the first phase of the deal is completed.

The deal has been met with celebrations in Gaza and public declarations of victory by Hamas and its allies, including the Iranian regime. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described the agreement as evidence of Israel’s “retreat,” while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps labeled it a “great victory for Palestine.”

Hamas continues to openly glorify its violence against Israel, framing acts of terror as divine achievements and pledging further aggression. As the ceasefire begins, Israel’s efforts to protect its citizens and ensure their safe return remain paramount in the face of such threats.
