Harlap Family Donates $180 Million to Build Hope Tower at Rabin Medical Center

Record-breaking gift will create Israel’s largest heart and brain facility, serving all communities and symbolizing national unity.

In a momentous act of generosity, Anat and Dr. Shmuel Harlap have donated $180 million to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva the largest single gift ever made to an Israeli hospital. This transformative contribution will fund the construction of “Hope Tower,” a state-of-the-art cardiology and neurology facility poised to become the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

The donation, announced on Wednesday, sets a new benchmark in Israeli philanthropy and reflects a deep commitment to the nation’s health and social fabric. “We are calling it ‘Hope Tower’ because it needs to be a lighthouse of hope, to radiate hope, to give people hope,” Dr. Harlap said at the signing ceremony. “It will show that all the components of Israeli society Jews, Muslims, Christians, Haredim, secular people, Circassians can stay here and be healed here.”

Expected to open in 2027, Hope Tower will double Rabin Medical Center’s current capacity in cardiology and neurology and significantly expand its intensive care services. The facility is already under construction and is designed to integrate cutting-edge technology and world-class patient care.

Hospital officials described the gift as nothing short of historic. “Anat and Dr. Shmuel Harlap have changed the Israeli philanthropic field and set a new standard for dedication to society and public health,” said Pinchas Cohen, chairman of Friends of Rabin Medical Center. “This is a symbol of mutual responsibility, exemplary citizenship, humanity, and belief in the power of hope.”

Dr. Harlap, who holds a doctorate in Platonic philosophy, is the controlling shareholder of Colmobil, Israel’s largest car importer. He is also known for his philanthropic outreach following the October 7 terror attacks, having donated 120 vehicles to affected kibbutzim. A former major investor in Mobileye, his involvement in the autonomous driving tech company reportedly earned him a $1 billion return when it was sold to Intel.

Hope Tower will not only serve as a leading center for medical innovation but also as a physical embodiment of unity, healing, and forward vision. It will provide care to all sectors of Israeli society and serve as a lasting tribute to the values that bind the nation together.
