Harlap Family Donates $180 Million to Build Tower of Hope in Israeli Hospital
New Heart and Brain Center in Petah Tikva aims to unify Israeli society while advancing world-class medical care.

In an unprecedented act of generosity, Anat and Dr. Shmuel Harlap have donated $180 million to the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva marking the largest single contribution ever made to Israel’s healthcare system. Their transformative gift will fund the construction of a 15-story Heart and Brain Center, aptly named the Tower of Hope.
This landmark project is more than just bricks and mortar. Set to open in early 2027, the Tower of Hope will symbolize healing not just of the body, but of Israeli society itself. “There is no place more fitting than a central public hospital to symbolize the healing of divisions within Israeli society,” the Harlaps stated. The center will serve all sectors of the population: secular and religious Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, and Circassians alike.
Spanning approximately 70,000 square meters, the new tower will double Rabin Medical Center’s current capacity for heart and brain treatments. It will house 300 inpatient and intensive care beds across eight specialized departments, including cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, and cardiac surgery.
Three floors will be fortified to host high-tech operating theaters, advanced imaging units, state-of-the-art catheterization labs, and intensive care units. The Heart Center will feature a national heart transplant unit, cardiac ICUs, sports cardiology clinics, and AI-supported diagnostic systems, making it a true hub for comprehensive heart care. Prof. Ran Kornowski, director of the Heart Center, emphasized that the facility will offer “a continuum of care from early diagnosis to tailored treatment and rehabilitation.”
The Brain Center, under the leadership of Prof. Sagi Harnof, will expand neurology and neurosurgery capabilities, introduce a cutting-edge Stroke Command Center, and establish a brain research institute. Innovative technologies such as intraoperative MRI and laser treatments for brain tumors and epilepsy will elevate the center to international standards.
Dr. Eytan Wirtheim, CEO of Rabin Medical Center, praised the Harlap family’s donation as a historic moment that will “unite under one roof the best knowledge, technology, research, and innovation in cardiology and neurology.” Yochanan Locker, chairman of Clalit Health Services, noted that the tower will position the hospital among the world’s elite medical institutions, while acting Clalit CEO Ornit Bar Tal highlighted its impact on global collaboration and medical research.
The Harlaps, long-time patrons of Israeli health initiatives, see the Tower of Hope as a symbol of unity and strength. “If we are fortunate to bask in its light, that will be our reward,” they said.
