Herzog to Award Trump Israel’s Top Civilian Honor

Recognition for his role in brokering a hostage release and ceasefire in Gaza.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has declared that he will award U.S. President Donald Trump the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, the highest civilian distinction in Israel. Herzog’s announcement comes in light of Trump’s role in facilitating a ceasefire deal and securing the release of hostages during the Gaza conflict.

During their planned meeting at the Knesset, Herzog will formally notify Trump of the decision, though the exact time and location for the medal’s presentation will be scheduled in the coming months. The presidential statement cited Trump’s “steadfast and unwavering support for the State of Israel,” his contribution to Israel’s security, and his efforts toward regional peace as central reasons for the award.

Established in 2012 as Israel’s highest civilian honor, the medal recognizes individuals Israeli or foreign who make exceptional contributions to the State of Israel or to humanity. Under Herzog’s presidency, the medal has been awarded to heads of state, cultural figures, and leaders whose work has elevated Israel’s standing globally.

Herzog praised Trump’s record from backing Israel consistently, to supporting the Abraham Accords, to facilitating the release of hostages, and even credited his stance on Iran as part of a legacy of bold leadership. According to the president’s office, the decision signals that Trump’s legacy will be remembered “for generations by the State of Israel and the Jewish people.”

The upcoming medal ceremony will underscore the deep gratitude Israel holds for strong allies who help defend and promote its security and future.

May this moment remind all who stand with Israel that bold action, alliance, and unwavering support matter. If you value stories that celebrate Israel and its future, share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for more.
