New AI Diplomacy MOU Signed Between HIT and the UK Abraham Accords Group
Israel, UK, and Abraham Accords countries to collaborate on responsible AI development in healthcare, energy, and education.

The Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) and the UK Abraham Accords Group (UKAAG) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) this week at the British Ambassador’s residence in Israel, launching a new era of AI diplomacy across the Middle East.
The agreement aims to deepen collaboration between Israel, the UK, and Abraham Accords countries through artificial intelligence in key sectors such as healthcare, energy, education, and governance. A central focus will be on promoting responsible AI principles, creating joint training programs, and developing regional standards for AI governance.
British Ambassador Simon Walters lauded the initiative: “The UK’s position as a global leader in research ethics and innovation gives us a unique opportunity to strengthen the Abraham Accords. By leveraging our diplomatic and tech assets, we can help foster regional prosperity, stability, and long-term cooperation.”
The UK Abraham Accords Group is a nonpartisan British organization dedicated to supporting and expanding the Abraham Accords framework through trade, cultural exchange, and innovation. Its Director of Policy, Matthew Davies, emphasized AI’s role in the region: “AI diplomacy is emerging as a new engine of regional cooperation. This MOU turns research into action and represents a new confidence and coherence in British foreign policy in the Middle East.”
The ceremony included presentations by Hadas Lorber, Head of the Institute for Applied Research in Responsible AI at HIT, and Shahd Asfour, Tech Policy Lead at the British Embassy, who highlighted the power of technological collaboration as a form of soft diplomacy.
“This partnership positions HIT at the center of a regional effort to build practical AI solutions that improve lives and shape the technological future of the Middle East,” said Prof. Eduard Yakubov, President of HIT.
HIT CEO Samuel Goldberg added, “This is a recognition of our excellence in innovation and our role in shaping meaningful international collaborations. The MOU affirms HIT’s growing leadership in technological diplomacy.”
The agreement marks a significant milestone in using shared AI research to promote multilateral cooperation, with upcoming projects already in the works under the new framework. Share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.
