Hollywood Stars Express Grief Over Six Hostages Killed by Hamas
Gwyneth Paltrow, Gal Gadot, and Others Express Sorrow Over the Executions of Hostages in Gaza
As Israel mourns the tragic loss of six hostages murdered by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, several prominent Hollywood figures, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Gal Gadot, and Debra Messing, have shared their grief and support for the victims’ families. The hostages, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov, and Ori Danino, were found by IDF soldiers in a tunnel beneath Rafah.
Gwyneth Paltrow expressed her sorrow, addressing the parents of the hostages and reflecting on the pain of the long captivity. “To the families of each hostage whose life was stolen, I have thought of you every day for 11 months, but today I send you my heart,” wrote Paltrow, who has used her platform to highlight the hostages' plight over the past year. She also called attention to the female hostages still held by Hamas, using the hashtag “#rapeisnotresistance” to condemn the sexual violence inflicted by Hamas.
Debra Messing, known for her strong support of Israel, posted emotionally about the unbearable grief surrounding the hostages’ execution. “The collective grief, the agony that comes with the news that Hersh and those five beautiful souls were executed ISIS style in the last two days is unbearable,” she wrote. Messing also spoke about Hersh Goldberg-Polin’s parents and their tireless fight for their son’s release, recalling their appearance at the Democratic National Convention and their recent pleas at the Gaza border.
Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress, shared a moving montage of the six victims, writing, “They survived almost 11 months in captivity and then were murdered by Hamas... the heart is broken into pieces today.” Gadot emphasized that 101 hostages remain in captivity.
Actor Ben Stiller also expressed his solidarity, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Sending love and support to the families of the hostages [whose] lives were taken so brutally.”
The outpouring of grief from Hollywood underscores the deep sorrow felt around the world for the lives lost and the continued struggle to bring the remaining hostages home.
