Huckabee Condemns Hamas for Using 'Flesh Dome' While Holding Hostages

U.S. ambassador contrasts Israel’s defense of civilians with Hamas’s exploitation of human shields in Gaza.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee delivered a forceful condemnation of Hamas on Thursday, accusing the terror group of using Palestinians as “a flesh dome” a cynical human shield strategy in stark contrast to Israel’s Iron Dome, which defends civilians from missile attacks.

In a reflective post on X/Twitter, Huckabee shared his experience meeting with families of American hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.

“I had the opportunity to sit down with a number of hostage families, all of whom are related to Americans still held in Gaza,” he wrote. “We want them home now. And the only reason they are not already home is because of Hamas.”

He revealed that some families have confirmed the death of their loved ones, while others continue to cling to hope as their relatives remain alive in captivity victims of ongoing psychological and physical torment.

Huckabee’s stark comparison of Hamas’s “flesh dome” with Israel’s Iron Dome defense system underscored the moral divide in this conflict. “Israel uses its defense system to protect its people,” he said. “Hamas puts its people in front of military targets.”

“They put their people in the most vulnerable positions,” he continued. “That’s why we need to get our hostages home. Hamas doesn’t care about individuals that is why this war needs to end, but first and foremost, Hamas must be obliterated.”

The ambassador’s statement reflects growing international frustration with Hamas’s use of civilians as human shields, a tactic widely documented and condemned under international law. It also highlights the urgent moral imperative to bring home the remaining hostages.
