Huckabee Affixes Mezuzah Made from Joshua’s Altar Stones

In a symbolic gesture of unity, U.S. Ambassador to Israel receives historic gift from Samaria council leader during meeting in Jerusalem.

In a powerful moment blending faith, history, and friendship, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee affixed a mezuzah to the entrance of his Jerusalem office on Sunday. The mezuzah, gifted by Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, holds a profound connection to Israel’s biblical past crafted from stones taken from Mount Ebal, the site traditionally identified as Joshua’s Altar.

The handcrafted case, created by an artist in the Samarian town of Itamar, is a tribute not only to Jewish tradition but to the eternal bond between the Land of Israel and the Jewish people. Mount Ebal is revered as the site where Joshua, Moses’ successor, built an altar and renewed the covenant with the people of Israel upon entering the Promised Land.

“It is an honor for me to receive such a beautiful gift from Samaria,” said Huckabee in a video shared shortly after the ceremony. “It is a reminder, every time I enter my office, that there are people praying for the peace of Jerusalem. And we all pray for the peace of Judea and Samaria, and for the peace of all of Israel.”

Dagan, a long-time friend of Huckabee, expressed deep appreciation for the ambassador’s support. “I am very excited to fix this mezuzah,” he said. “We all the citizens of Samaria, all citizens of Israel, and all Jews around the world appreciate you. I want to thank you for your heart, for your partnership, and for everything you are doing for Israel and for the United States.”

The gesture comes amid a politically sensitive time, with discussions surrounding Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria continuing to swirl. Though Huckabee acknowledged that the U.S. administration is currently prioritizing the return of hostages and confronting Iranian nuclear threats, he emphasized that these critical issues do not diminish the importance of Israel’s historic heartland.

“This moment transcends politics,” said one observer at the event. “It is about standing with Israel, affirming its biblical roots, and honoring the shared values of faith, freedom, and friendship.”

As the mezuzah now adorns the ambassador’s office, it serves as a daily symbol of divine protection and a lasting connection between America’s representatives and the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people.
