Israel Aerospace Industries Opens IAI Catalyst Innovation Center in Washington

New U.S. innovation hub to drive aerospace advancements and deepen Israeli-American collaboration.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a global leader in aerospace and defense technology, has officially launched its first innovation center in the United States near Washington, D.C. This groundbreaking initiative, IAI Catalyst, marks a significant step in expanding IAI’s innovative efforts in collaboration with U.S. startups and the broader tech ecosystem.

The IAI Catalyst accelerator, powered by the global startup accelerator Starburst, focuses on cutting-edge sectors such as AI and Autonomy, Quantum Science, Sustainability, Energy Tech, and Space Tech. It aims to become the epicenter of aerospace innovation, supporting entrepreneurs and startups in developing technologies that will serve both defense and commercial markets.

Located near Dulles Airport, the innovation center provides a platform for Israeli and U.S. startups to collaborate on dual-use technologies. IAI’s Chairman, Amir Peretz, emphasized that this center is a symbol of the deep bond between Israel and the U.S., founded on shared values and a mutual vision for progress.

The Catalyst accelerator will host two cohorts each year, with four startups selected through a competitive screening process. These startups will receive technological and business support from IAI experts, as well as a $100,000 cash investment. The center offers office space, mentoring, and access to IAI’s engineers to help accelerate the development of advanced aerospace technologies.

IAI’s President and CEO, Boaz Levy, described the new center as a hub of technological excellence that strengthens the already robust defense partnership between Israel and the U.S. Levy highlighted the success of previous joint ventures, such as the Arrow missile defense system, and expressed optimism that the new innovation center will further enhance collaboration in security, civilian, and business sectors.

Amir Geva, IAI's EVP for North American Affairs, underscored that this initiative is a key part of IAI’s strategy to deepen its business and technological ties with U.S. partners. By fostering innovation and nurturing startups, IAI is positioning itself at the forefront of aerospace advancements.

The launch of IAI Catalyst is a milestone in the long-standing relationship between Israel and the U.S., as both nations continue to lead in defense and technology. With its forward-thinking approach, IAI Catalyst promises to shape the future of the aerospace industry for generations to come.
