Fauda Star Brings Light to Grieving Youth at Chanukah Camp
The Israeli star’s heartfelt visit inspired hope and unity among children who have faced unimaginable loss.
More than 400 Israeli children experiencing the loss of a loved one due to terrorism or war were given a heartwarming surprise during their Chanukah camp when Idan Amedi, a beloved singer-songwriter and star of the international hit series Fauda, arrived by helicopter to join them.
Held at Kibbutz Revivim in the Negev, the three-day camp was organized by OneFamily, an organization dedicated to supporting victims of terrorism and their families. This particular program provided a space for healing and connection for children aged eight to 18 who have lost parents or siblings. Activities included arts and crafts, sandboarding, rappelling, and therapeutic sessions to help process their grief.
Idan Amedi’s visit was the highlight of the camp. The artist, who has himself faced profound challenges as a wounded IDF reservist, performed a private concert and joined the children in lighting the Chanukah candles. His music and words resonated deeply with the young attendees, offering them a message of hope and resilience.
“What makes this camp so special is the deep sense of community we create,” said Marc Belzberg, founder and chairman of OneFamily. “Idan’s visit and performance were emotional highlights, reinforcing the powerful truth that healing doesn’t happen alone. By sharing their stories and hearing from someone who has endured so much, these young people felt truly seen, supported, and inspired to continue their own journey of recovery.”
Amedi’s appearance served as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity and perseverance that characterizes the Israeli people. His presence reminded the children that even in the face of immense hardship, light and connection can prevail.
This Chanukah camp was one of 40 such programs run by OneFamily during the holiday, underscoring their commitment to helping bereaved families find solace and strength in shared experiences.
