IDF Mobilizes 26000 Troops in War Against Iran

Israel’s rapid deployment saved lives and showcased unmatched defense coordination under fire.

During Israel’s recent 12-day conflict with Iran, the Israel Defense Forces’ Home Front Command mounted one of its largest emergency deployments in recent history, activating 26,000 reservists to safeguard civilians and execute rapid rescue operations nationwide.

As missiles rained down on Israeli cities, the IDF responded with precision and coordination. Over 21,000 incoming missile alerts were issued via the Home Front Command’s national alert system. In just under two weeks, specialized rescue and light infantry battalions responded at more than 170 locations, conducting rescues at 25 critical sites struck by enemy fire.

With an average response time of just 15 minutes, these teams proved instrumental in saving lives and restoring stability under pressure. The IDF also mobilized significant logistical power: 120 heavy machines, 640 tow trucks, 430 transport trucks, 20 cranes, and 70 ambulances all to ensure rapid response.

Meanwhile, the Home Front Command’s digital presence became a lifeline. Hotline 104 and the National Emergency Portal received nearly 300 million visits and handled over one million civilian calls. Around 5 million Israelis relied on the Command’s alert app for up-to-the-minute guidance.

As war erupted and Ben Gurion Airport shut down on June 13, the IDF launched “Operation Safe Return” on June 19. A dedicated call center, operated by the Alon Headquarters, helped 7,200 Israelis return home via five ships docking in Ashdod. The same operation assisted over 4,700 foreign nationals in leaving the country safely.

Elite units were also deployed in the field. The LOTAR Counter-Terrorism Unit conducted complex building searches and high-risk rescues. The Oketz Unit, working with trained dogs, joined the hunt for missing persons combining cutting-edge tactics with urgent humanitarian purpose.

Despite the high-tech defense, the cost of Iran’s 550-missile and 1,000-drone assault was severe. Twenty-nine civilians lost their lives, including a seven-year-old girl from Ukraine who had come to Israel for cancer treatment. Her mother, grandmother, and young cousins were also killed in the attack. Just before the ceasefire, four more Israelis were killed in Beersheva.

Israel's counter-offensive, “Operation Rising Lion,” delivered a strategic blow to Iran’s military infrastructure. Preemptive strikes targeted air defense systems, nuclear assets, and high-ranking military leaders. According to reports, Israel neutralized 80 anti-aircraft batteries and 250 out of 750 missile launchers, effectively decapitating much of Iran’s military command.

This conflict underscored Israel’s extraordinary capacity for rapid, efficient mobilization in defense of its citizens. Every unit, from combat teams to crisis response centers, operated with purpose and unity. The people of Israel once again demonstrated their ability to face the gravest threats with courage and clarity.
