IDF Chief Vows Hezbollah Will Suffer Devastating Blow in Operation Roaring Lion

As Israel intensifies strikes in Lebanon and Iran, the military declares the northern threat must be eliminated before the campaign ends.

Israel’s military campaign will not end with Iran alone.

Standing at the northern border on Monday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir made it unmistakably clear. Operation Roaring Lion will conclude only when the Hezbollah threat from Lebanon is decisively removed.

“The Lebanese government and Lebanese Armed Forces have been warned numerous times to disarm Hezbollah,” Zamir said during a briefing with division commanders. “They did not act, and so we know how to defend ourselves with our own means.”

His message was direct. The campaign will end not only with heavy blows to Iran’s regime, but with Hezbollah “suffering a devastating blow.”

The IDF chief emphasized that disarming Hezbollah remains a non-negotiable demand. “The IDF will not conclude the campaign before the threat from Lebanon is eliminated,” he vowed.

While Israel’s primary operational focus remains on degrading Iran’s missile and nuclear infrastructure, Hezbollah’s rocket fire into Israeli territory has forced a parallel and forceful response.

After Hezbollah launched attacks toward Haifa and northern communities, Zamir ordered expanded offensive operations in Lebanon. Plans were approved to intensify strikes and reinforce defensive postures along Israel’s northern border.

“The IDF is prepared to operate in multiple arenas simultaneously,” Zamir told commanders. “We are operating with force and striking the terrorist regime in unprecedented coordination with the US military.”

On Monday evening, the IDF confirmed additional waves of airstrikes across Lebanon, targeting more than 70 weapons depots, missile launchers, and operational sites belonging to the Iranian-backed terror group.

Among those killed in the latest strikes was senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Adham Adnan al-Othman, known as “Abu Hamza.” He headed the organization’s so-called al-Quds Brigade in Lebanon.

He was eliminated in an airstrike in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut.

The strike underscores Israel’s broader strategy: dismantling not only infrastructure, but also the leadership networks that coordinate attacks against the Jewish state.

Zamir reassured northern residents that there will be no further evacuations of Israeli communities.

“The protection of residents is our top priority,” he stated. “The IDF is on the front line, defending our communities and striking to remove threats.”

The message reflects a shift from reactive containment to proactive removal of long-standing dangers along the Lebanese border.

For years, Hezbollah has amassed tens of thousands of rockets aimed at Israeli population centers, operating as Iran’s most heavily armed proxy. Despite a 2024 ceasefire agreement that called for its disarmament, Hezbollah has refused to comply.

Now, as Operation Roaring Lion unfolds, Israeli leadership is signaling that the era of partial measures is over.

Israel’s military leadership has repeatedly stressed that the campaign is not about temporary deterrence, but long-term security.

By coordinating closely with the United States and applying sustained pressure on both Iran and its proxies, Israel aims to reshape the regional threat landscape.

The IDF’s operations in Iran have already struck hundreds of targets and significantly reduced ballistic missile capabilities. But the northern front remains central to Israel’s security calculus.

The commitment is clear: Israel will not leave a hostile missile army entrenched along its border.

Operation Roaring Lion is about ensuring that Israeli families from the Galilee to the Negev can live without the shadow of rocket fire.
