IDF Eliminates Key Hamas Drone Commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Northern Gaza
Israeli forces continue strikes on Hamas and Hezbollah targets in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have eliminated Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, the commander of Hamas’s drone unit in northern Gaza, in a targeted strike, the military announced on Wednesday morning. Al-Mabhouh was responsible for overseeing Hamas’s drone operations, directing attacks against Israeli territory and IDF troops. His elimination marks a significant blow to Hamas's capabilities in the ongoing conflict.
The IDF operation, conducted by the Israel Air Force in coordination with the 454th Artillery Brigade, underscores Israel’s continued efforts to dismantle Hamas’s military infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. In recent days, multiple Hamas terrorists have been killed in the Jabalya area through a combination of airstrikes and ground combat. IDF forces from Division 162 have been engaging Hamas operatives in close-quarters encounters, adding pressure on the terror group.
In Rafah, IDF’s Nahal Reconnaissance Unit, operating under the Gaza Division’s command, used drones to neutralize an armed terrorist cell that was preparing to attack Israeli troops. This successful mission adds to a growing number of IDF strikes that have neutralized terrorist threats in Gaza.
Simultaneously, Israel is continuing its operations in southern Lebanon, where IDF soldiers have eliminated several Hezbollah terrorists through ground engagements and airstrikes. During these operations, Israeli forces uncovered significant caches of military equipment, including rocket launchers, mortar bombs, and anti-tank missiles, which were aimed at northern Israel.
In response to ongoing threats from Hezbollah, the IDF has struck over 140 Hezbollah terror targets across more than 50 locations in Lebanon. Under the guidance of Northern Command, Israeli airstrikes have targeted weapons storage sites, launchers, military facilities, and terror cells. In one instance, Division 91 forces successfully identified enemy fire, directing an Israeli aircraft to neutralize the threat.
The IDF reiterated its commitment to continuing operations that disrupt the capabilities of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, both above and below ground. These efforts form a critical part of Israel’s strategy to defend its borders and neutralize terrorist threats on multiple fronts.
