Islamic Jihad Commander Killed by IDF in Jenin Operation

In a major blow to Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s terror infrastructure, Israeli security forces on Friday eliminated Noor Beitawi, the group’s top commander in Jenin, during a counterterrorism operation near Shechem (Nablus).

Beitawi was a central figure behind numerous attacks targeting Israeli civilians and IDF personnel. According to the IDF, he was directly responsible for planning, funding, and executing terror operations across northern Samaria, and had extensive operational ties to Hamas operatives in Gaza and abroad.

Acting on intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Israeli forces tracked Beitawi as he attempted to flee from Jenin following an earlier anti-terror sweep. He was located hiding in a home in Nablus. Israeli forces surrounded the residence, and in the ensuing confrontation, Beitawi and another terrorist were killed.

For months, Beitawi had been on Israel’s most-wanted list. Authorities say he managed a vast network of terror cells, recruited and armed operatives, transferred funds, and supervised the production of improvised explosives designed to target IDF patrols in the region.

“This terrorist was the mastermind behind a series of deadly threats to Israeli lives,” the IDF said in a statement. “His elimination represents a strategic gain in our ongoing campaign to dismantle terror networks in Judea and Samaria.”

Beitawi’s removal comes amid increased IDF operations targeting terrorist infrastructure in the West Bank, especially around Jenin a known hotspot for Islamic Jihad and Hamas activity. The region has seen a surge in attacks over the past year, prompting Israel to intensify its counterterror efforts.

“Israeli security forces will continue to act against terrorism in Judea and Samaria to ensure the security of Israeli citizens,” the military reaffirmed.
