IDF Reports Over 4,000 Hezbollah Fighters Killed in Current War
Israeli offensive decimates Hezbollah leadership, arsenal, and infrastructure in Lebanon.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reportedly eliminated over 4,000 Hezbollah fighters during the ongoing conflict with the Iranian-backed terror group in Lebanon. This represents a staggering toll, over 10 times the number of Hezbollah casualties in the 2006 Second Lebanon War, according to a joint assessment by Israel’s Channel 12 News and the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS).
Since the conflict began 14 months ago, IDF operations have targeted Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and leadership. High-ranking officials killed include Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Southern Front commander Ali Karaki, and Fuad Shukr, the group’s chief of staff. Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and its chain of command have suffered significant losses, with 11 brigade-level, 37 battalion-level, and 46 company-level commanders among the dead.
Israel’s campaign also destroyed approximately 80% of Hezbollah’s estimated stockpile of 150,000–200,000 rockets and 70% of its drone arsenal. Despite this, Hezbollah has launched over 16,000 rockets, missiles, and drones at Israel, forcing nearly 70,000 residents of northern Israel to evacuate their homes.
The conflict has taken a severe toll on Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians, 3,823 people have been killed, and 15,895 injured. The war displaced 1.2 million Lebanese citizens, primarily from Southern Lebanon and Dahieh, south of Beirut, with many fleeing to Christian strongholds in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
Satellite analysis by The Washington Post revealed extensive destruction in border towns, with nearly a quarter of buildings in 25 towns damaged or destroyed. Economic losses are estimated at $8.5 billion, including $3.4 billion in infrastructure damage and $5.1 billion in broader economic impacts, per World Bank data.
“Operation Northern Arrows,” Israel’s military campaign, resulted in the deaths of 45 civilians and 79 IDF soldiers, with property damage exceeding $273 million. Israeli officials consider the operation critical to dismantling Hezbollah’s capabilities and ensuring the safety of Israel’s northern border communities.
As the war progresses, the destruction of Hezbollah’s infrastructure and leadership highlights the group’s declining capacity to threaten Israel. Share this article or subscribe to our newsletter for continued updates on regional security developments.
