IDF Unveils Hezbollah Weaponry and Details Key Intelligence Operations

Captured weapons and advanced operations highlight Israel’s decisive victory over Hezbollah.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) showcased an extensive display of captured Hezbollah weaponry this week, offering a glimpse into the scale of operations during Israel’s year-long conflict with the Iranian-backed terror group. In addition, the military revealed details about its covert "pager operation," a critical intelligence and operational success that marked the turning point in the conflict.

On display at an army base in northern Israel were some 85,170 individual items seized from Hezbollah, including 6,840 RPG rockets, 340 Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missiles, 9,000 explosive devices, and 60 anti-aircraft missiles. Among the weapons and equipment were also 20 captured Hezbollah vehicles and a vast array of communication and surveillance tools. IDF officials noted that some captured equipment meeting military standards, such as mortars, would be repurposed for Israel’s defense forces.

During its operations in over 30 villages in southern Lebanon, the IDF inflicted significant losses on Hezbollah. According to military assessments, approximately 3,800 Hezbollah operatives were killed, including most of the group’s senior leadership and its former leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Thousands more were wounded, and the IDF estimates that 70% of Hezbollah’s long-range missile capabilities and 75% of its short-range rocket launchers were destroyed.

The IDF also detailed the execution of the "pager operation," a joint project with Mossad initiated a decade ago. The operation culminated in September when thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah operatives were rigged to explode. The timing was strategic, coinciding with intensified conflict along Israel’s northern border. This operation not only eliminated key personnel but also destabilized Hezbollah’s communication network, paving the way for subsequent Israeli airstrikes that crippled the group’s military capabilities.

Nasrallah himself was assassinated during an Israeli airstrike on his Beirut bunker on September 27, just days before Israel launched a ground offensive in Lebanon.

Looking forward, the IDF announced plans to establish temporary posts in a buffer zone between Israel and Syria, ensuring effective operations throughout the winter months. These posts reflect Israel's commitment to maintaining security on all fronts while adapting to the region’s shifting dynamics.

Israel’s decisive actions against Hezbollah demonstrate the IDF's operational expertise, intelligence capabilities, and readiness to neutralize threats. As the nation continues to defend its borders, its military strength remains a critical element in ensuring the safety of its citizens.
