Second Houthi Missile Intercepted by IDF in Short Span

Iranian-backed terror group escalates attacks as Israel vows decisive retaliation against threats from Yemen.

Israeli air defense systems successfully intercepted a second missile launched from Yemen on Thursday, only hours after neutralizing a similar attack. The escalation comes as the Iran-backed Houthi terrorists intensify their aerial campaign against the Jewish state, drawing international condemnation and renewed Israeli resolve.

The second missile, detected shortly before noon, set off sirens in Jerusalem, the Dead Sea region, and neighboring communities. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed a successful interception, adding that the alerts were activated "in accordance with protocol." No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier Thursday morning, another Houthi missile was intercepted over central Israel, triggering air-raid sirens from Tel Aviv to surrounding cities and sending millions into bomb shelters around 3 a.m. local time. It marked the third such attack in less than a week.

The Houthis, who have threatened to impose a full aerial blockade on Israel, recently fired a missile that landed near Ben-Gurion International Airport heightening both the threat level and Israel’s resolve to strike back. In response, Israeli forces have targeted key Houthi military infrastructure in Yemen, including sites at Sanaa International Airport and the ports of Hodeidah and Salif, used for arms transfers.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stern warning “If the Houthis continue to fire missiles at the State of Israel, they will suffer painful blows and the heads of the terrorist group will also be hit. We will defend ourselves with strength against any enemy.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea addressed the global threat posed by the Houthis in a speech Tuesday. “At President Trump’s direction, the United States took punishing action to defend freedom of navigation,” she said. “We condemn their continued attacks on Israel and support Israel’s right to respond.”

The sustained wave of aggression from Yemen represents a dangerous new front in the ongoing regional conflict. As Iranian proxies grow bolder, Israel’s message remains crystal clear: threats from any direction will be met with unwavering force and precision.
