Hamas Deputy Commander Involved in Hostage Release Parades Killed by IDF, Shin Bet
Musa Shaldan, a key figure in the October 7 massacre and hostage parades, was targeted and killed in Gaza City.

In a decisive operation last week, the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet announced the targeted killing of Musa Shaldan, deputy commander of Hamas’s Zeitun Battalion. The joint statement released Monday confirms that Shaldan was eliminated in Gaza City, ending his reign of terror which spanned from the October 7 massacre to recent operations against Israeli forces.
Shaldan played a central role in Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which claimed the lives of over 1,200 innocent civilians. In the months that followed, he continued to make public appearances during Hamas’s grotesque "hostage release parades," celebrating the suffering of Israeli families whose loved ones were abducted.
Israeli intelligence also confirmed that Shaldan was responsible for a series of sniper attacks and anti-tank fire targeting IDF soldiers operating inside Gaza. His removal represents a significant blow to Hamas’s command structure in the Gaza Strip.
Just a day earlier, the Israel Air Force eliminated another key Hamas figure: Hasan Mahmoud Hasan Hussein, a commander in the Nukhba terrorist unit. Hussein participated in the abduction of Israeli citizens and the mass murder of civilians in the southern town of Re'im, where he threw a grenade into a bomb shelter, murdering several innocent Israelis seeking refuge.
These high-value operations highlight the IDF’s unwavering commitment to justice and its strategic focus on dismantling Hamas’s upper command. Each targeted strike not only neutralizes threats but serves as a clear message those who harm Israeli citizens will face consequences no matter how long it takes or where they try to hide.
The path to peace must be paved with security. Israel will continue defending its people while striving for a safer and more stable region.
