IDF Reports Elimination of Hussein Tohmeh, Hezbollah Terrorist Attempting Rebuild in Southern Lebanon

Hussein Tohmeh targeted for smuggling weapons and violating Israel-Lebanon border agreement.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed Wednesday that they eliminated Hussein Ali Tohmeh, a senior Hezbollah terrorist responsible for logistical operations in southern Lebanon’s Qana sector. Tohmeh had been working to reestablish Hezbollah’s military infrastructure along Israel’s northern border a direct violation of long-standing agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

Tohmeh was struck on October 14 in a targeted IDF operation during ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. According to the military, Tohmeh was actively engaged in transferring weapons and rebuilding Hezbollah’s operational capabilities in areas dangerously close to the Israeli frontier.

His elimination comes amid a broader escalation in the region, as Hezbollah continues to challenge Israeli red lines and push military assets southward in defiance of the post-2006 UN resolution that bars armed activity near the border.

The IDF’s announcement followed additional strikes this week targeting Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon. On Monday, two terrorists were killed in a precision strike near al-Biyad: Hussein Ibrahim Suleiman, a known member of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, and Hassan Ibrahim Suleiman, another operative linked to the group. These strikes followed the IDF’s confirmation that it had killed two more terrorists the day before.

In the background of these developments, Lebanon’s army announced it had exhausted its stockpile of explosive supplies used in internal efforts to curtail Hezbollah’s unchecked activities. This further illustrates the growing inability or unwillingness of the Lebanese state to enforce its own sovereignty against the Iranian-backed terror group.

The IDF emphasized that Hezbollah’s actions represent a flagrant breach of international agreements and a clear threat to Israeli civilians. “These strikes are not just retaliatory they are preventive,” said an Israeli defense official. “We will not allow Hezbollah to entrench itself militarily on our northern border.”

Israel remains locked in a low-intensity conflict with Hezbollah, with daily skirmishes, rocket fire, and drone threats emanating from southern Lebanon. Yet the precision nature of these targeted strikes signals that Israel is not only defending its border it is methodically degrading Hezbollah’s operational capability without engaging in full-scale war.

As the IDF continues to defend its northern communities, its message is unmistakable: Any attempt to rebuild terror networks along Israel’s borders will be met with lethal force. Whether in Rafah or Qana, the defense of Israel knows no borders when threats cross the line.
