IDF Expands Outreach with New Turkish-Language Social Media Channels
New accounts expand Israel’s outreach amid regional developments.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have officially launched social media platforms in Turkish, expanding their outreach to a key regional audience. The move comes in response to ongoing geopolitical developments, with new accounts now active on X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram, two of Turkey’s most popular networks.
With this expansion, the IDF now operates in seven languages: Hebrew, English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Persian, and Turkish. The initiative aims to provide accurate, real-time information and counter misinformation in a region where narratives surrounding Israel are often shaped by hostile actors.
In just one week, the IDF’s Turkish-language X account has attracted nearly 30,000 followers, while the Telegram channel has already gained 700 subscribers. Across all its platforms, the IDF now boasts over a million followers worldwide.
Significantly, the new Turkish-language accounts are operated by reservists who speak Turkish as their native language, ensuring effective and culturally attuned communication.
The IDF’s social media presence plays a crucial role in engaging with international audiences, particularly in regions where misinformation about Israel is rampant. By launching Turkish-language accounts, Israel is not only addressing a new demographic but also reinforcing its position in an increasingly complex regional landscape.
