IDF Prepares for Gaza City Assault with Major Mobilization and Logistics Push
Israel readies reservists and combat infrastructure as it moves to dismantle Hamas’s final stronghold.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are intensifying preparations for a major ground operation in Gaza City, signaling what may be the final and most decisive stage in the war against Hamas. With over 40,000 reservists reporting for duty and infrastructure rapidly scaling up, the military aims to dismantle what it identifies as Hamas’s last major command hub.
Troops slated to enter Gaza are receiving full tactical gear, personalized weapons, and specialized training in both urban and open-terrain combat. To support the mobilization, the IDF’s Technology and Logistics Directorate has established air-conditioned staging areas equipped with electricity, showers, water access, and sanitation facilities ensuring operational readiness over an extended deployment period.
At forward positions, IDF maintenance teams are working under fire to repair and prepare armored vehicles for battle, underscoring the intensity and urgency of the operation. Meanwhile, the Manpower Directorate is providing extended support to reservists and their families, aiming to distribute responsibilities fairly across units and maintain strong morale on the home front.
The anticipated invasion of Gaza City is expected to play a crucial role in achieving the war’s primary objectives: the return of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the IDF’s detailed battle plan and has rejected the idea of any partial hostage agreements. He remains committed to a full resolution that meets the terms set by Israel’s security cabinet.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir reaffirmed this strategic approach, stating last week that “the IDF will continue its mission until both of its central goals are achieved.”
Over recent days, Israeli forces have ramped up air and artillery strikes across the Gaza Strip, targeting infrastructure believed to be tied to Hamas’s leadership and military operations. In parallel, humanitarian access to Gaza City is being reduced, and the IDF has urged civilians to evacuate southward ahead of the ground assault.
With estimates suggesting that as many as 800,000 civilians could be affected, the IDF has reiterated its commitment to minimizing harm to noncombatants. Still, international criticism has emerged. A joint statement by foreign ministers from several European countries including Ireland, Spain, and Norway condemned the planned operation and opposed any future Israeli presence in Gaza City.
Despite this, the Israeli government and military remain focused on neutralizing the terror threat emanating from the Strip, with preparations reflecting both operational urgency and logistical sophistication.
